Who hasn’t heard of Black & Decker? This is one of the industry leaders in the manufacturing of electric and power tools. It is also one of the most trusted names in lawn care products. Black and Decker has two types of garden mowers – cordless and electric in its range.

Black & Decker CMM1200 19-Inch 24-Volt Cordless Electric Mulching Lawn Mower

A cordless lawn mower uses battery for power, and the CMM 1200 model from Black and Decker comes with a 24V Sealed Lead Acid battery ideal for 1/3 acres of lawn areas. The battery is rechargeable to 60-70% in 4 hrs and to 100% in 10 hours. And its 19″ mower deck comes with a lifetime warranty. The CM1936 on the other hand has a 36V Lift-Out Sealed Lead Acid battery which means you can use more batteries when you have a bigger job. Its 19″ 3-in-1 mowing deck also has a lifetime warranty, and one of the most adored features is the instant starting with the pull of a handle. Cordless garden mowers are a good choice if you do not want to use gas, oil and tune ups, and trips to the service station.

If you don’t want to use batteries, Black and Decker has a variety of electric lawn mowers. One popular brand is the LM175 which has an in-built 6.5 AMP motor. Designed as a lightweight machine, the LM175 is easy to push and maneuver in the lawn. Its 18″ Polymer Deck has a lifetime warranty. This electric mower can go up to 100′ from an electric outlet. If you want something more powerful, there is the MM1800 which comes with 12 AMP motor. Also lightweight in design, this electric mower has a 18″ 3-in-1 deck design for mulching, bagging, and side discharge. Black & Decker guarantees an instant start every time.

Because electric lawn mowers run on electricity, they do not cause air pollution and produce half the noise of other types. They are ideal for the households with small lawn areas.

Electric Lawn Mowers – A Green Solution

Did you know that there is a more environmentally friendly way to cut your grass than your common gas mower? Like the increasingly popular electric cars, electric lawn mowers also exist and can significantly reduce your carbon footprint. Electric lawn mowers are new on the market, but are growing in popularity.

These new electric lawn mowers are all push mowers and are ideal for smaller yards. They are much better for the environment, easy to clean, and they won’t cost you a fortune on gas. And though electric lawn mowers are currently not available as riding mowers, these will probably be on the market in no time.

Most home owners with electric lawn mowers say the primary reason for choosing electric was environmental consciousness. Experts say that mowing your lawn for about an hour with a regular, gas powered mower causes more air pollution than driving a car for 150 miles. Electric mowers use substantially less energy to operate, so there is much less drain on the environment.

Another benefit to having an electric lawn mower versus gas run is that you won’t have to worry about pulling away on a cord to get it started. Electric mowers are turned on with the push of a button. Electric lawnmowers also do not require tuning or oil changes. They are also silent compared to most roaring gas mowers.

Electric mowers are powered using a plug and draw their energy from an electrical outlet. In this way, using an electric lawn mower is just like using a vacuum cleaner in your home. However, like with a vacuum cleaner, electric mowers have the problem of dragging a cord behind. Sometimes the cord is not long enough to get where you need to go, so you have to stop your work and switch. This can be a hassle. The good news is there is a new brand of cordless electric mowers out now which use a rechargeable battery. This solves the problem of lugging a cord around your yard.

Cordless electric mowers use 1 to 4 rechargeable 12-volt batteries. Most are more expensive than both gas mowers and electric mowers with a cord, but there are some cheaper options out there. Plus, you are not having to spend money on gas or maintenance, so you’ll save in the long-run.

Depending on what model you get, cordless electric mowers may also come with a mulch plate. The plate is handy because it allows you to use the mower to mulch your grass in addition to just cutting it. Check to see if the cordless electric mower you are interested in comes with this feature.

If you are interested in getting an electric mower, be it cordless or not, be sure to check customer reviews. Since these mowers are relatively new on the market, it is difficult to say what types of problems they may face over time. The best way to find out about these is to hear what actual owners are saying.

Are you thinking about purchasing a pole hedge trimmer? You probably have a few concerns before going out and buying one. If you are now using a ladder and a manual, electric, or gas powered trimmer, you might be asking if you should change your routine. Your first concern might be about actually using a pole trimmer. Will it be too heavy for you, especially if you have to use it for an extended period of time? You might wonder if you will be able to hold up over your head long enough to finish the job.

After some research and shopping you will discover that this is the tool perfect for your job. If you have a hedge lets say that is over eight feet tall that grows very fast, especially in the summertime, then you need to look into a pole hedge cutter because you simply need and easier, quicker, and safer way to trim your hedges.

Right now, you might be a little wary about a blade on the end of a long shaft hanging over your head while you try to trim down your hedges, but you have to realize, this is a lot safer than standing on a ladder with both hands on a traditional hedge trimmer. If you are still not sure, you can rent a pole hedge trimmer for the week and try it out for yourself.

You will probably see that it works so well that you will want to cut your neighbors hedges when you are done with your own. But do not get carried away. The thrill will wear off soon enough.

You will find that it takes you about one third of the time to trim your hedges with the pole trimmer as it does with a ladder and the manual or powered cutter. When you first use this trimmer, you will not be used to it, but after awhile you will be cutting without any trouble at all wondering why you have not used one before. You can find models with an angled cutting head which allows you to cut high sections of the hedge.

You do not have to use this type of cutter only when reaching up; you can use it to reach parts of the hedge that are hard to access. For instance, you might need to reach ahead of you ten feet to trim the hedge. There might be many obstacles in the way making it hard to get to. No problem with the pole hedge cutter. Simply reach out and start trimming.

There are several models to choose from. You will want to do your research and shopping before picking the one that is right for you and for your job. Take some safety precautions when using it; wear safety glasses when you are cutting. If you are used to the traditional hedge trimmers you are used to the clippings falling below you, however, with this type trimmer, the clippings fall down towards you.
